Long story short we have been attending since January 2024. My son absolutely loves it...unfortunately I'm not even lightly fond of the leadership. Without out too much identifying information, the person who is there to answer parents questions, help with organization, welcome new members and such is just awful at what they do. This last meeting, 2 parents asked me questions which I do not mind at all answering and then I introduced them to the person who SHOULD be better educated in the CAP subject than me...the person was "too busy" at that moment and said she'll talk to them later. Mind you what they were busy doing was scrambling to grab stuff for the begining of CAP class that she could've done earlier because it's not like you don't know what day and time CAP is every single week. That's just one example and this "scrambling" happens every single week. My other concern is the preferance given to this same individuals child who is clearly not mature enough to handle all of the cadets and they both come off (in my opinion) as rude and ignorant.
Lastly, almost every CAP meeting where one of the highest ranking CAP members attends, this is a 15 year old high school student who is already at the rank of major (I don't know how that even happened, is that possible?), they both do nothing but idle chit chat until it's the 15 year olds turn to give a speech on some topic. The 15 year old is so incredibly snobby, immature and I can't for the life of me understand what is so fantastic about that person. She brings no honor to the CAP family and the last time I heard her speaking she was talking about communication and said: "...you need to read your emails but don't email me because I never read that stuff..."
So, do I just suck it up or look for a different squadron? No, I absolutely DO NOT FEEL I can speak to this person about this and No, I have not asked how other parents feel but I can tell by my interaction with the parents last week that they were very confused and did not feel listened to. Another thing is that all 3 of us parents are of non-American decent and I do wonder if that has anything to do with that, which I hate to think but my wife who is an active duty Marine and is American even noticed it but also stated she's never really even spoken to this person as they've never introduced themselves and just walk around all blase around the building or in a huff looking for paperwork.

Third, just as everyone at Columbia has the right to express their views, they also must respect the rights of others to do the same. As a result, protests must comply with time, place, and manner restrictions which, for example, prevent loud protests at night when other students are trying to sleep or prepare for exams. One group’s rights to express their views cannot come at the expense of another group’s right to speak, teach, and learn.
Fourth, our values—as well as our duties under civil rights laws—compel us to condemn hate and to protect every member of our community from harassment and discrimination. Antisemitic language and actions are unacceptable and calls for violence are simply abhorrent.
I know that many of our Jewish students, and other students as well, have found the atmosphere intolerable in recent weeks. Many have left campus, and that is a tragedy. To those students and their families, I want to say to you clearly: You are a valued part of the Columbia community. This is your campus too. We are committed to making Columbia safe for everyone, and to ensuring that you feel welcome and valued.
We've worked hard to balance these principles. To that end, since Wednesday, a small group of academic leaders has been in constructive dialogue with student organizers to find a path that would result in the dismantling of the encampment and adherence to university policies going forward. Regretfully, we were not able to come to an agreement.
Both sides in these discussions put forward robust and thoughtful offers and worked in good faith to reach common ground. We thank them all for their diligent work, long hours, and careful effort and wish they had reached a different outcome.
The university’s goal for the talks was a collaborative resolution with the protestors that would result in the orderly removal of the encampment from the lawn. The students also were asked to commit going forward to following the university’s rules, including those on the time, place, and manner for demonstrations and events.
While the university will not divest from Israel, the university offered to develop an expedited timeline for review of new proposals from the students by the Advisory Committee for Socially Responsible Investing, the body that considers divestment matters. The university also offered to publish a process for students to access a list of Columbia’s direct investment holdings, and to increase the frequency of updates to that list of holdings.
Additionally, the university offered to convene a faculty committee to address academic freedom and to begin a discussion on access and financial barriers to academic programs and global centers. The university also offered to make investments in health and education in Gaza, including supporting early childhood development and support for displaced scholars. There are important ideas that emerged from this dialogue, and we plan to explore pursuing them in the future.
As the past seven months have shown, our campus is roiled by divisions over the war in Gaza. All year, we have sought to facilitate opportunities for our students and faculty to engage in constructive dialogue, and we have provided ample space for protests and vigils to take place peacefully and without disruptions to academic life.
But we must take into account the rights of all members of our community. The encampment has created an unwelcoming environment for many of our Jewish students and faculty. External actors have contributed to creating a hostile environment in violation of Title VI, especially around our gates, that is unsafe for everyone—including our neighbors. With classes now concluding, it represents a noisy distraction for our students studying for exams and for everyone trying to complete the academic year.
Consistent with our interim demonstration policies, after reading days, exams, and commencement, protests may continue on campus by application with two-days’ notice in authorized locations. We have no intention of suppressing speech or the right to peaceful protest.
We also do not want to deprive thousands of students and their families and friends of a graduation celebration. Please recall that many in this graduating class did not get a celebration when graduating from high school because of the pandemic, and many of them are the first in their families to earn a university degree. We owe it to all of our graduates and their loved ones to honor their achievement. We want to reassure our community who are trying to make plans that we will indeed hold a commencement.
For all of the reasons above, we urge those in the encampment to voluntarily disperse. We are consulting with a broader group in our community to explore alternative internal options to end this crisis as soon as possible. We will continue to update the community with new developments.

Nicholas wasn’t actually told much by either Lambros or Luca.
Lambros skimmed over his own troubles and focused mostly on warning Nicholas of the tactics Haochen Xia used and how the high mage could take a soul from someone -magical core and all- to get access to Family Magics. Lambros taught him how Nicholas can counter rituals targeting his soul, specifically the kind of rituals the high mage used.
Lambros also explained with incredible detail how to break out Rafael if he did get caught by the creature reform centres. Nicholas now has that memorised and repeats it back to Stavros and Rafael verbatim. All the collars, cages, drugs, the control centre…
Rafael starts looking sick and Stavros starts looking angry. It’s not going to happen, Nicholas is certain, because Nicholas is an Ayad and countries would burn before his friends got hurt. He literally had to die and Stavros was put into a coma before someone got their hands on Rafael.
Nicholas is utterly, arrogantly confident that Rafael is safe but he’s still going to start his studies on healing in the drugs section and they’re all going to keep a closer eye on the reform centres in case Lambros does something and it goes wrong.
But other than the three of them, Lambros didn’t really mention world events. He complained about how utterly useless everyone was and gave a vague timeline on Luca’s troubles with the high mage but that information capped off when Lambros went through the ley line.
Luca was even worse. He said the words ‘high mages’ as in plural and went quiet immediately upon seeing the dawning horror in everyone’s faces.
Both of them kept repeating that they were going to deal with it and everything was fine.
So an entire four hours later and far too many questions Nicholas couldn’t answer, he trots downstairs after Rafael and Stavros only to be waylaid by Mariana in the common room.
"Here," she says and puts a vial in his hand. "For sore muscles. Make sure to eat properly too."
Nicholas stares after her as Mariana leaves, a grin slowly splitting his face. He turns to his friends. "Did you see that?"
Stavros rolls his eyes.
"She thought you were about to pass out last night, so she nearly followed you up to bed," Rafael admits.
“We’re going to have a baby!” Nicholas cheers, clutching the vial to his chest.
"Sure, and before one pops out, you can catch up on homework because it's SC year and you're behind," Rafael says idly.
Nicholas' smile drops off his face at the reminder of School Certificate exams.
Stavros pats him on the shoulder. "I'll get your charms and technomancy; Rafael can go after potions and folk. You've got the rest."
“That’s like nine more!”
“Have I ever been particularly charitable?”
Nicholas splutters.

Nicholas gets back to the doom room last -because he stops to pet a fluffy cat familiar wandering in the hall- and dumps off the stack of papers onto his bed, where Rafael and Stavros have already piled up theirs. All three boys stand around the bed and stare at the mountain of assignments and notes in front of them.
“Do we really do that much?” Stavros asks in confusion.
The school has three levels of classes for each subject. For example, a student can have Runes, Advanced Runes, and then an extra Extension Runes that is done as well as advanced classes. Extension is mainly made up of a personal research project that they work on over the year instead of coursework.
Ever since electives opened up in year nine last year, the faculty shoved the boys into every extension class possible with their marks, which means an extra nine hours of classes a week and who knows how much homework, where the boys can't get up to mischief.
Because it was against their will, though their parents were happy and ‘strongly encouraged’ it, the boys cheat off each other or Stavros and Nicholas just won’t do homework unless it’s interesting or a practical.
Work smarter, not harder, right?
“Help me read through this?” Nicholas begs with doe eyes.
“You can throw most of it and use copies of mine with just a handwriting charm to change it,” Rafael says. “You need to read over the ones that don’t have me or Ross in the class though.”
They split up at the start of every year, taking each other’s classes so no matter what, they always have at least one other person. But with Adam gone, Nicholas is going to be alone in Extension Transfiguration and Folk Magic.
“I can drop down in folk so we’re together,” Stavros offers. “I could probably push it and get into transfig extension classes?”
“No point, exams are too close anyway,” Nicholas admits. “Ugh, exams.”
“Come on,” Rafael says, shoving the paper out of the way. “Let’s get started.”

The boys come stumbling down to the dining hall, mentally exhausted from going through all the notes (Stavros and Rafael also need to play keep-up because they didn’t do shit when Nicholas was gone) and find an open table.
The hall is massive, with giant windows that reach the ceiling to show off the view of the lake glittering in the moonlight. Some students take food and run off to eat outside or elsewhere but the hall is generally loud and crowded unless someone throws up a muffling ward.
Along one side of the hall is where five large glass paintings hang from the wall, denoting the five magic tracks. The paintings have stylised mages moving in slow motion as they cast magic according to their track, currently only half filled up with colour. Each track point earned adds another drop of colour to the painting, otherwise they stay as clear glass.
InCore has the least, as it should be with Nicholas and Stavros to cause trouble.
The entire place is filled with round tables and circular bench seats in disarray because students drag them around, banish some, and conjure new ones. Much like the disjointed common rooms, if a bunch of teenagers have access to magic, everything not held down by wards doesn’t last the week.
The table they find, a large twelve-seater, is half-filled with younger boys still discussing the menu scrawled on the table. Nicholas slumps over as soon as he takes his seat and Stavros sits backwards to chat with the students at the next table over. Rafael is ordering for all three of them by tapping around on the enchanted menus that will occasionally try to nudge students towards healthier meals by sliding salad options and such under wherever your finger is pointing.
“My brain hurts,” Nicholas grumbles in his folded arms. “I want ice cream.”
“You can have it after food. You want tofu stir-fry?” Rafael says and pets Nicholas on the head.
Nicholas is half-heartedly vegan because of Rito and looks particularly upset when he sees any of his friends (mainly Stavros, definitely on purpose) eating lamb. Sometimes they’ll sneak off to the kitchens to rewrite the shopping list so no one gets lamb at all.
“Jalfrezi,” Nicholas admits. “Extra spice, I want to cry.”
Stavros looks over with a frown. “I don’t eat spicy.”
“Yeah, but it’s my food.”
“Yeah, but I’m going to eat it too.”
“Yeah, but go fuck yourself.”
“Yeah, but try me, shithead.”
Rafael orders the food and sits back to wait for the dishes to pop up as Nicholas and Stavros descend into calling each other buttface.
Rafael does not tell them a letter finally came back from Adam’s parents. Nicholas had wanted to visit and make sure they were doing well, but with those rumours about the situation happening because someone wanted an heir, Adam’s father seems intent on blaming Nicholas and Stavros for being heritage.
It’s probably grief and misunderstanding that’s struck Adam’s parents so hard. Rafael doesn’t particularly care, not after reading that letter, not after tearing it to shreds and burning it in his anger. He’ll just have to tell Stavros and Nicholas the letter said something else.

So me and my friend (both F16. I'm gonna call her Lia) were friends from primary school. Throughout our friendship we had people coming in and out, sometimes we got into groups etc. but it didn't bother me that much.
Things changed when we got into high school and got separated. At first we still kept good contact, sometimes hung out and played video games. She went to a different school than me so it was to be expected that she would meet some new people.
For the context, in my class I don't have anyone I could call a close friend, i also don't have anyone outside the school that I could hang out with.
And now back to Lia, after a few months, she started making new connections with people in her school but also outside of it because of her sister. At the back of the head it bothered me because she got so many new friends and I didn't, but I tried to forget about it also because I saw how happy she was to have all the new people that cared for her.
The problem started when she began posting photos with them or talking about them in a group chat. (There was also one tiktok, some trend about a person that you really care for or whatever, and it was her classmate. Tbh I was heartbroken.) After seeing how happy she was with them I started feeling left out. I think I also subconsciously began closing off and declining meeting up with Lia.
After some time we eventually met up and had a sleepover. Usually we talk a lot during it and tell each other our fears etc. so I brought up the subject. She was really understanding, also told me that I am actually the only person that she can fully put trust in. I also asked if she could potentially introduce me to some them and we could all hang out. So Lia asked one of her closest one there and she agreed. We didn't pick any time or date so I assumed they would ask me to hang out themselves, never happened.
I think it was at least two months since then, I still get some snaps when she is with her friends, I also listen to her problems that she has with some of them. Never met those people or even saw them.
The reason that actually made me write this post was yesterday that I asked her if is she would be down to play some video games today since we both have a free day. She basically said she won't have her computer with her because she is with one of her friends, which I thought she wasnt really close with but they have sleepover now?
To my knowledge she also has her own troubles and it's her first time so many people have liked her. Lia also doesn't want to stay home often for reasons so I understand that she goes out so often but still.
This whole thing makes me so jealous, confused and I don't know if it's her or my problem to find new people.

When I was growing up in a conservative country I barely knew a any gay guys, except the few queens from my high school. Had my fare share of straight crushes and surprisingly a lot of them ended up fucking me, I’m pretty sure I was the first time for at least 20 guys.
I’ve always wanted a relationship and the 4 relationships I had before I turned 22 were all with straight guys who turned bi. I used to complain back then not knowing how good I had it. When I finally moved to countries with large gay populations, life actually became hard.
I’ve realized that I’m unattractive, effeminate, small penis etc… I went from having multiple guys after me to none at all. In 2019, I started to workout and a year later I’ve started getting attention. People who used to treat me like trash suddenly became polite.
I’ve spent almost a year in NYC and I don’t think I had sex like 5 times. When I came back a year later, I have had sex almost every day and sometimes 3/4 times a day. I went from never having a date to only eating out for an entire month for free.

Hi, I‘m an international student from Korea and currently studying abroad in southeast asia. After moving school to prestigious school in grade 11, due to strict, conservative, and authoritarian school culture and teachers, I start to struggling from severe depression and anxiety.
I was too scared and mentally stressed so much to go to school and I even gained 10kg and skipped 4 days of school in the beginning of the semester 2. After that, I tried to endure but I cannot because of how they treat students and what they did it to me.
Korean teacher revealed my entire grade in front of entire korean students and she commented and evaluate them one by one just because I didn’t complete my homework by my misunderstanding. So every korean in my grade except two girls know my entire grade and the fact that I am in the status of dropping international baccalaureate program.
Last time, when I misunderstood about how to write the script for presentation and write in wrong format, she kept pointed out my flaws in front of everyone by coming to me and keep saying “You should not write like this. you will be in trouble.” more than three times and I felt really embarrassed.
In the case of my school counselor, my mom had mentioned to her before that I have a rare eye disease(corneal dystrophy), and when I was alone with school counselor to discuss college, he suddenly said, “You are not the only one having bad eyes, everyone else does. others have bad eyes. Everyone else wears glasses. I have bad eyes too because I'm older,” and it wasn't like he was trying to comfort me, it was like he was looking at me with a sarcastic tone and expression, and I felt so humiliated at that moment. (I have high eye pressure and am also being tested for glaucoma, and when I have high eye pressure, my eyeballs feel like they're going to fall out of my head, my vision is blurry, I feel like I'm going to throw up, I get headaches, and I feel like they think I'm making excuses
And also, before this happened, I went to the school counselor because I felt like the course I chose was completely not fit for me, and he wouldn't let me change it, even though it was only a week after the deadline to change it, because they said that everyone else was struggling with it. (It's a rule within the school, and the International Baccalaureate headquarters in Switzerland allows students to change subjects up to six months after starting the IB. My friend was able to switch subjects after 6 months because she fought with her school counselor and emailed the IB headquarters directly and got a reply within a month that she could switch).
Similar situation happened to my friend. Her chemistry teacher constantly did a verbal abuse and suspected her and kept shouting for being absent for a week even though she showed her medical report and she officially diagnosed as panic attack and had to move during the middle of the grade 11. She even thought about taking korean GED. I also want to tell about what I was upset and what my korean teacher did to me but in case of my friend, school did nothing for her and it made the situation worse. so she eventually had to move the school. I think I better not tell to the school.

I used to have good grades when I was in grade 10 (Average was around A~B+) but now I have D+ in four subjects. My current gpa is now lower than 2.0. (I am doing international baccalaureate, which is a college level program and since my school is teaching in fast phase compared to my previous school + IB itself has lots of thesis and contents to do so it made me hard to catch up and understand what I am learning.)

To be honest, I think this is a result of my messy psychological status(I took a psychological test without telling to my parents and a doctor told me that I should get some medicine.), procrastination, and the school.
Everytime, I fear about going to school. Feels like no one really cares about me and I feel like I am totally lost… Feels like I already gave up on the study… I miss the time when i used to work hard and passionate about what I am doing.
I don't know why things are going this way, and I wish I knew why I'm doing this... I can't get my head around school, I hate going to school, I hate myself for not being able to keep up with what I'm trying to learn, my brain keeps screaming for a break... I'm at my worst in so many ways right now. My math teacher at my old school was very much against me going to this school because he said it is like North Korea and it's very results-oriented, and my friends told me not to go because they heard bad things about it, but I think I just blindly transferred because of the reputation of Koreans. And actually, I couldn't stand it because two girls made fun of me on a school trip and were mean to me and they've been picking on me ever since, and I was bullied so badly in sixth and seventh grade and I didn't want to be bullied anymore at that point, I was so scared of getting in trouble, but I should have stuck it out because I had teachers who cared about me, I had friends who cared about me, and I was just being cowardly. I suffered a lot of guilt after switching schools, and it got worse and worse psychologically because of this conservative environment, the academic pressure to get in, and the loneliness of studying abroad. I actually attempted suicide recently because I felt so guilty. I'm really exhausted right now, and I desperately need a break. I feel like I already gave up on study. If I keep studying like this, I'll still not understand what I don't understand, I won't be able to make up for the bad grades, and I won't be able to retake the subjects I failed because international schools don't have summer school. I'd like to go back to my country and finish 12th grade with an American online school, because I've heard that you can make up for the existing credits that you messed up in 11th grade in a short amount of time. But my mom and guardian in my current country are against of my idea.
It might be a reckless idea, but at this point, I think it would be more exhausting for me to continue 12th grade from IB to regular courses and dragging my bad grades with me. I feel like I have to push myself even though I graduate high school because I have to transfer to get into a good university, and Korea is a culture that puts a lot of importance on universities and thinks that university = showing yourself. I don’t want to let down my parents… but I think I already did.

Over 10 years ago, I (34F) was a bridesmaid for a good friend from high school and her dream had always been to be a Bride. This is a long post, so buckle in.
1. Maid of Honour abandons the bride
The Bride's Maid of Honour was a girl from our high school friend group and it made sense because she and Bride had remained close friends after school.
The Bride was planning a beach wedding and the overall vibe was going to be low-key and classic, with a cream and blue colour scheme. Us bridesmaids had promised to pay for our own dresses, and the Bride's only stipulation was that we would all have the same dress, and she promised it wouldn't be expensive or overly fancy, so we could wear it to more events.
After University, I'd got my first job in a town 700km (435 miles) away, and the MoH drove her and the Bride down to visit me and include me in initial wedding dress shopping because I'd already missed out on early wedding planning.
That first night of the visit is when the cracks began to form. MoH started in with a couple of passive aggressive remarks asking "why couldn't I have a different dress to the other bridesmaids". I remember she wanted a purple formal number, which wasn't going to match the theme or colour scheme. We talked it out, saying the wedding dress should come first, so we could then choose our dress to match her style.
The next day, the Bride found a couple of options she really liked and unfortunately, MoH found a dress just like she wanted: purple, formal, floor-length. Seeing it, it wasn't going to match the theme. Bride reiterated her wishes and the MoH shut down and refused to participate in the rest of the shopping.
We finished up and went back to my house, and MoH started a full-blown argument with Bride, which ended with her getting in her car and leaving. MoH literally drove the 7 hours back to our hometown and wouldn't answer our calls, stranding the Bride in my town.
Bride was distraught as you can imagine, and had no way home, as flights were crazy expensive. She stayed an extra night and I paid for her bus ticket because I felt bad I couldn't take time off work to drive her home.
As you can probably guess, the MoH was disinvited from the wedding, and the Bride's soon-to-be sister-in-law became the new MoH. She did ask me, but because I lived so far away, I couldn't commit to it. I did go home to do bridesmaid dress shopping with the Bride and the other bridesmaids, and we found a cute dress that matched the theme. I wore mine many times after the wedding, including to work and other functions.
2. Wedding photographer from hell
Day of the wedding, I arrived last of the bridesmaids almost an hour after hair and make up had started (I had moved since the MoH fiasco and then only lived 2 hours from our hometown, and only 30 minutes from the wedding venue). The Bride and her family were in a state because the wedding photographer still hadn't shown up. Because I was already dressed, had done my hair and make up at home (with Bride's permission) and had my work camera in my car, I offered to take photos while they got ready and the sister-in-law MoH kept calling the wedding photographer. While I'm good with a camera, I'm not wedding-photography good, but it was better than nothing.
The photographer and her husband arrived just as we were about to start the wedding, and it was very clear that her husband was high. He just sat off to the side as she worked and the rest of the wedding went off without a hitch. Bride and Groom had a great time, and the reception was wonderful.
Photographer terribleness didn't end there though, because about a month later, the Bride reached out to our school friend group to ask if we had any photos. The wedding photographer had stopped answering calls, hadn't provided the newlyweds with their photos and had deleted their Facebook page. So, my friend only had photos that I'd taken, a couple of sample photos the photographer had sent of the ceremony before she went AWOL, and what friends and family took at the reception. She never got her photos, or her money back.

Bride was a champ through it all and should be commended for everything she had to put up with.
PS: Bride and the original MoH did make up several years later and are still friends today. It's a pity she missed the wedding, but it's all water under the bridge.

Did about a day of research needed one quick for work and expected it to be better than my 10 year old acer monitor. This Koorui looks pixelated and is a horrible experience even playing low quality games like LoL and hunter call of the wild.
I would like to return it and upgrade to one with great graphics. I've learned nothing about computers since high school thought 165hz would be amazing but the graphics are terrible.
