I'm really nervous because I feel like others have so much more competitive things due to science competition stuff which I never participated in due to family issues. I would love for advice on things to do this last summer to buff up my application. I'd also like to know if I'm even competitive to apply. thanks yall <3

- 2 summers of researching at a biomedical research lab that is connected to a very good medical school in Texas. Might not publish anything, but I got a lot of data to do poster presentations later on this year
- founder of a non-profit organization that posts videos online helping patients with a certain something (don't wanna reveal much info, sorry!). also interacting with these patients to help with exercises, etc.
- got selected into an internship that was pretty competitive in my city. It's just a bunch of medical stuff for 3 years.
- Shadowing/medical volunteering for over 200 hours; helped out family practice physicians with whatever they needed, but also shadowed at the same time. Also got to shadow surgeons for a bit too.
- internship at a consulting company (around 100 hours); I honestly talked with the CEO a lot because it's a smaller company, so I might be able to get a letter of rec...
- a small program where I just did mock surgeries on fake stuff haha
- dance for like 7 years (noncompetitive but really dedicated to it); performed at various places
- hospital volunteering for 4 months (12 hrs/week); just normal hospital volunteering stuff
- tutoring for small kids for like 3 months-ish (4 hrs/week); not much to say about this, but it was pretty fun
- president of 2 clubs that are medical related: care cards, item-donations, etc (no $$ raised though)
- volunteered at a bunch of health fair camps (have really cool experiences.. totally recommend!)
- NHS (volunteering at elementary schools) & Science NHS (no volunteering.. just fun science events)
- part of student council too for 2 years (historian)

I would totally appreciate it if I could get feedback over what else I should do in my last summer. BS/MD programs have literally been my dream for such a long time, but I'm so nervous to apply in the coming months. Any advice and feedback is greatly appreciated!

Watching the news on Asylum Seekers from Ukraine and Central America and I think to myself : "I wonder how many of them have or are interested in getting their Nursing degree..."?
I can't help but think there's some Missed Opportunities here.
As a bit of a background, I have plenty of extra nursing hours available from my County, and even a couple extra PCA hours, but because I live with my family in a semi rural location, it has been impossible to find help that will just show up.
Surely with that many new immigrants there would be some interested in a PCA or nursing position, especially when a live in apartment could be included in the situation.
But, as I am a 40 year old male, it feels kind of sketchy/pervy to be putting feelers out there for a live in PCA/Nurse applicant by using a possible green card or work visa as incentive, even though it seems like it would be to Mutual Benefit.
Has anyone had any success with hiring workers from outside the country?
Or is there any way to go about looking for potential applicants without sounding like you're looking for a green card marriage situation?

I had a vacation abroad last week (starting 21st of April 2024) for our family of 3 (me, my wife and our infant) which involved 5+ hour layovers at Indian airports. I am an ICICI bank customer and only have the ICICI Bank Rubyx credit card which allows 1 lounge access per card (Rubyx cards come with both MasterCard and Amex) per quarter. Since I was not getting any better offers from ICICI Bank, I decided to pursue the HDFC Bank Regalia Gold credit card which had better features and a good amount of lounge access in India and abroad (via Priority Pass). This credit card was suggested by colleagues of my company who enlightened me that our company have a corporate tie-up with HDFC Bank and we get the card as LTF.
I approached the bank in my city almost a month before my trip (around 22nd March 2024) and mentioned the corporate tie-up they have with my company. They said they would be able to issue me the card based on my great CIBIL score and salary. However, they required me to open a savings account with the bank before they could start the application. I was hesitant about opening the savings account as I didn't want another savings bank account. I only agreed to open the savings account on the assurance that I would get the credit card before I leave for my vacation.
Since then, I kept following up twice a week with the credit card sales representative who kept assuring me that I'd get the credit card before I left. Two weeks later, I got an email stating that my application was rejected due to internal policies. I visited the bank immediately and they told me that they were not able to reach me. I was infuriated and gave them a piece of my mind. The sales representative then stated that he would speak to their internal team, after which I got a call for verification after 20 minutes. On the eve of my vacation, I visited the bank again and gave them another earful after which the sales representative told me that he was only a sales guy and asked to me to speak to their internal team. I was more infuriated but fed up by that point. I anyways called a number of their internal team, who was very apologetic and assured me that I would get the credit card next week, to which I replied that it was useless to me. He again apologized and said he would give me an update at the end of the day which he never did!
Well, I am now back from my vacation as the card has still not been issued! I don't even have any proof that the application is in progress.
Any suggestions on what to do next?

I miss my brother. Not the only thing that would be applicable to this... no there would definitely be a few more, however this has been the longest I guess
Please do excuse my dyslexic writing. Auto correct will be doing quite a bit of heavy lifting here 💪 This may be a little disjointed and long, please bare with me
I (36m) and my brother (32m) haven’t spoken since I was 14 and he was 10... and I haven’t a clue why.
For context, my brother lives in the main city and I live at a seaside town, north of the county... So it’s not like we are much more than an hour or so drive from each other at any given time.
For context: I was taken off my mother at a very young age, growing up with my paternal grandparents (my bio-mother is a real piece of work, that’s a whole other story, so this is understandable), and my dad started a new family. I have never had bad feelings towards my dad for this, my step mum is lovely (who I call mum until I catch myself, I’m not sure if she likes me doing so or not). My brother grew up with my dad and step mum, and were around visiting my grandparents frequently for a good few years. This was until something happened between my dad and my grandmother (my dad’s mum) causing them to have a massive falling out and for my dad to never speak to his mother again... in turn meaning they no longer visited or brought my brother around any more... There was a brief period some time after this my dad would come and get me on a Friday after school or a Saturday and I would go to their house and visit them and my brother. Ah I remember bring stuff that I thought my brother would enjoy too. Oh how nice it is to think back.
I digress.
After some time this stopped, one Christmas before he turned 11 and I turned 15 ( our birthdays are in the same month) and I didn’t hear from them again... for a long time... Obviously since then, I have been wondering what I had done wrong. I remember the visits fondly, although I do remember bringing some models to paint as I have great difficulty getting to sleep, even back then.
Over the years I have tried and better tried to get in contact with them again. I visit my dad and step mum when I can. However my brother is a different story. I have tried and tried and better tried, gifts at birthdays and Xmas, checking almost daily online to make sure he is alright... no news is good news, epically when you are constantly worried about car crashes and whatnot that may occur in the city.
For the longest time I worked late incase he got stuck on a night out and might of needed a lift home, kept fuel in the car just incase, kept money on me incase he appeared short on money for food or even to go out with (not that I thought he was broke or anything, however the unforeseen could happen and even thought we have been apart for so long I would of helped, happily at that), I made sure to be sober just incase, always just incase... so many things just incase.
A couple of my friends in the past have tried to get hold of him for me too, even to log into some of my social media to do so. I am not sure of the outcomes of this as they didn’t give me many details as it has been a long time and I found out not too long ago, that they tried this for me. So naturally the details are a bit foggy for them. I understand this and didn't look into it any further.
I constantly wonder what I did wrong, it has been over 2 decades now and I still can not for the life of me figure out what I did so wrong. Any time I speak about my brother, dad or step mum I do so with fondness and caring. I do love and care deeply for them. Now I think about there was one time I could of seen my brother however I was made to work. And missed and tried to reschedule with him and my dad and step mum, with no joy. I feel like I have done so much just incase, hoping for the best and simply trying... not so much as a simple thank you message at Xmas or birthdays.
I just don’t know what to do anymore. Am I simply the asshole in this scenario?... It does hurt alot and make feel down . And yes as a result I have gained a rather strong dislike of Xmas, to a point where I actively avoid it if I can... of course I leave gifts as well as cards down at my dad’s house for everyone. Also should mention that my brother hasn’t lived with my dad or step mum for a long time, they still live in our home town in the middle of the county. However to this day I still keep up with the just incase... need a few hundred quid as short for the mortgage, or something, a month, no problem... drunk and missed your lift, no problem ill drive you home... feeling low and just want a chat over coffee, no problem I’ll be all ears... No matter how long it has been or no matter what the problem is , I will always be there for my brother, and I will do my best to help him if I can and any way I am able.
I just don’t know what to do anymore is there anything I could do? Am I the asshole for keeping on trying? For I am thinking the problem is me? For even this year, the first in a long time my dad and step mum didn’t send a birthday message. I know this is small and insignificant but I like getting even the simple message every year. And yes this has been playing on my mind for months now
With this and everything else I do wonder if I deserve this, between this and everything else, am I simply ment to be miserable, feel down all the time, to simply fill the role of ‘the child that shouldn’t of been’. I have went out of my way for others for a long time. Done my best to be kind, caring and considerate... I even stayed in a job I hated... again just incase... is this my punishment for doing so, should I not have cared so much? I simply don’t know anymore. Between this and everything else... well what use is it carrying on? I am aware I am the child that shouldn’t of been, I’ve known this for a long, long time. Should this happen simply for that reason... I just don’t know.

Within a week of registering my car in Texas for the first time, I started getting a swarm of quasi-official looking "warning, your warranty on your (year) (model) is ending, call before it's too late" cards and letters in the mail.
Until I started the process of registering the car with Harris County, there was no information anywhere linking that car to my Houston address. The only organizations that have the information are the place that inspected the car; Harris County for auto registration; and DPS because I showed the registration receipt when I traded in my out-of-state license for a Texas license a few days later.
Is this information in public records? Is one of those organizations selling the data? TIA for any light you can shed.

The question is if a temporary unexpired driver's license a valid photo ID for the Cook County homeowners exemption application? If so, should the expired current drivers license also be submitted, because, to quote the, sos, "the temporary drivers license is not valid for identification unless presented with your current drivers license". For context, obviously, my drivers license expired, and I renewed it online, and i'm now waiting for it in the mail. When I went to apply for my cook county homeowners exemption, it asks for photo ID and gives these options:
List A Photo IDs that verify identity and occupancy in the tax year.

• IL Drivers License / IL ID Card
• Matricula Consular ID
• City of Chicago ID Card

Unfortunately, I don't have anything else in list A other then the temporary drivers license and my expired current plastic one. My current plan is to attach one document with both ids as part of it and an explanation just so things are clear.
I can't find any information tackling this slightly edge case, so any info is helpful, Thanks Chicago!

Live here for few years, never bothered myself with building credit because of horror stories of close people that had huge debts, and basically always had enough on my checking accounts.
Annual salary over 85k
Credit history -
4 months for my first BofA secured card (2,000$) 2 months for discover it (500$)
Credit utilization is consistently 1% , never late payments and credit karma (i know it’s mean nothing) shows around 725 .
I’m traveling a lot, I have a pretty much of personal expenses (at least 6k a month).I thought it’ll be nice to have the platinum instead of paying everything with my debit as I did so far.
I did application with confidence for the Platinum 2 days ago. It asked me for additional verification and it asked me connect my bank account. I did, and then got declined.
Call recon line and ask for reconsideration, 1 day later got update about another decline.
The representative was nice and knowledgeable, he told me the only reason they can’t approve me is because they want to see at least 1 credit line with at least 6 months of history.
He did told me that he’s looking on my Experian report and he said it actually looks great, and it seems like I know how to manage my credit cards really well, but they have requirement of at least 6 months of 1 credit line in order to approve. He said that I need to apply again in 2 months and most likely I’ll get approved.
After the call just for the sport I tried to apply with confidence for gold but got decline for exactly the same reason.
That’s my failure data point at the moment. Hopefully in 2 months it’ll turn on for success story.

Problem:
Ich hatte bis vor 2 Tagen noch eine GeForce GTX 1070 im Rechner. Dann kam die neue 4070 Ti Super.
Ich habe die neue GPU eingebaut: aber ich bekomme auf keinem der 3 DP-Anschlüsse ein Bild über DisplayPort. Der Monitor sagt "no Signal".
Der große Monitor wird nicht mal in Windows erkannt. Nur der dieser billige Samsung-Monitor der per HDMI angeschlossen ist.
Mit der alten 1070 hat DiplayPort wunderbar funktioniert, Monitoranschlüsse habe ich nicht geändert. Der Samsung war und ist per HDMI, der LC-Power war und ist via DP angeschlossen.
Wenn nur der DisplayPort-Monitor angeschlossen ist, dann bekomme ich einfach gar kein Bild, nur "no Signal"
Was hab ich bisher gemacht:

1. Alte Nvidia-Treiber mit DDU deinstalliert, reboot und dann die NVIDIA-Treiber 551.23 neu installiert
2. BIOS-Update auf die neueste Version gemacht und getestet (mit reboot)
3. BIOS-Settings zurückgesetzt. Darauf geachtet, dass Resizable-Bar deaktiviert ist. Dann gleiches wie in 1.

1. Aktuellen NVIDIA_DisplayPort_Firmware_Updater heruntergeladen. Der sagt: "This update is not applicable to the graphics card in your PC"

Am Stromanschluss der 4070 hängt der mitgelieferte 12VHPWR Adapter. An diesem Adapter hängen 2 kabelstränge (ein Stromkabel pro Adapter Anschluss) am Netzteil.
Ich brauche Hilfe... keine Ahnung, was ich nun noch machen könnte...

Edit: Ich hab noch einen 4k-Monitor Philips ausgegraben und den an das DisplayPort-Kabel gehängt. Der Monitor sagt ebenfalls "kein Signal".

Hello,
I am building a PC in the next 2 months. I am going to be playing a variety of games (single player FF7, MMORPG, COD, Palworld, AAA games, etc) at 1440P and recording gameplay through OBS or similar software. I might be streaming, maybe not can't say for certain at this time. I want to edit gameplay videos and create review videos as well on gaming accessories and plan to use DaVinci, Adobe, and other software. I dont plan on upgrading much of the PC over the next 5 years. With my usage described, I want to ask two questions:
1) Should I go with a 14900K and compatible motherboard or go with the Ryzen 7800x3d? I understand the 14900k is better at application use and the Ryzen gives similar gaming performance at much less power and cooler temps but I want to understand if the time saved is significant enough during application use.
2) I have two 2TB 990 Pro SSDs and one will be for windows OS and applications, the other will be for games. Should I get a 3rd M.2. SSD around 4TB to use to save gameplay capture and editing videos on?

I'm in the process of buying an international flight, and saw that Delta had a $400 credit deal on their Sky Miles Gold card, so I called AmEx to make sure I'd be able to use the card number upon completing the application, and was informed that I would get an instant card number and be able to buy my flight then.
A couple hours, and a few phone calls later, and I'm disappointed to report that the representative essentially lied to me when she said I'd be able to use the card immediately, that I'll need to wait something like 10 days before receiving the card, and there's nothing AmEx is willing to do to help the situation.
This is my first AmEx experience and it's made a pretty poor impression. Figured if you were, like me, lured in by the offer, you might want to know that it's not usable when you might want to use it.
Anyone have similar experiences with the company, or an idea of how I might be able to rectify the situation promptly?

I'm in the hurry up and wait phase of reaching out to some perspective lawyers I want to work with for my 1948 case and cable act of 1922. I know each lawyer may require different documents, but want to make sure all my bases are covered while I hurry up and wait.
Currently my phase is this
Me -> F -> GF -> GGM
I have this list of all the documents and important info for everyone involved would be this:
Me - (Born in the 90s in USA)

• US Birth Certificate: Proves your US birthplace, Also my dad is in fact my dad

Dad - (Alive, Born in the 60s in USA):

• US Birth Certificate: Proves his US birthplace
• Marriage License to my Mom

Grandpa - (Deceased, Born in the 30s in the US):

• US Birth Certificate: Proves his US birthplace and implicitly indicates US citizenship.
• Death Certificate (if deceased): Confirms his date of death (if applicable).
• Marriage license to my Grandma (my Dads Mom)

Great-Grandmother - (Italian Citizen, born in 1896 in Cles, Trento):

• Italian Birth Certificate: Proves she was an Italian citizen. I will need to reach out to the comune in Italy to receive it (This may be rocky alittle since she was born in Trento which at the time of her birth wasn't Italy, but when she left Italy to the US, it was Italy, and her immigration record shows Italy on her Ellis Island record in 1920)
• Immigration record from Ellis island
• Marriage Document to my great Grandpa (There marriage was in 1920 so Cable act would be applied0
• A CONE document to Prove she wasn't naturalized outside of being 'naturalized" by her marriage (Cable Act)?
• Death Certificate

Great-Grandfather - (Born in 1879 in now-Italy, using him as the way to show I can get it through the Cable Act and 1948, since when he immigrated over, Trento was not Italy and was part of the Austrio Hungrary Empire in 1905):

• Italian Birth Certificate Needed if he was born in in a now Italian place before immigrating.
• Immigration record from Ellis island
• US Naturalization Records at NARA (if applicable): Important if he became a US citizen at the time of his and my great grandma's marriage
• Draft Card, shows another him as naturalized as another supporting doc
• Marriage Certificate: Shows marriage to your great-grandmother in the United States (County level)
• Divorce record (He was married prior to marrying my Grand Grandma)
• US Death Certificate (if applicable): Confirms his date of death (if applicable).
